Medical Insurance Coder and Billing
Medical Insurance Coder and Billing

Medical billing and coding specialists work in doctor’s offices, hospitals, pharmacies, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, insurance companies, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), and even at home. If you’re attracted to health care but not to hands-on medical work, if you like helping people but prefer to remain out of the public eye, and if you’re detail-oriented and computer-savvy, then a degree in medical billing and coding would be a rewarding choice. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that medical billing and coding is among the fastest-growing occupations in health care. An American Hospital Association survey also found that 18 percent of billing and coding positions remain unfilled for lack of qualified candidates.
